Family trip to the Northwest: A week in Washington and Oregon

How exciting!! I had never been to the Northwest, just up and down California. The five of us flew into Seattle, Washington. Our first night we stayed in a beautiful Inn on Whidbey Island. We had to take a ferry over to the Island. The water, the hills, the mountains... everything was so beautiful. The evergreen trees were so tall it hurt my next to look at them all. I can see why this is the lumber state. When we got to the Inn, we had to sneak the kids in to the room. My boyfriend had neglected to tell me that he couldn't book them because kids under 13 years old were not allowed. After seeing our room, I knew why. This was a romantic get-away Inn, fully equiped with zen garden, spa amenities, a huge bathtub overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a personal gourmet chef for Breakfast and Dinner. Oops!! Well the kids had a ball almost floading our room with bubble bath but had passed out by 8:30pm. I figured everything was okay but we had gotten in trouble the next morning because of the couple below us. They got their room compt and moved to the other side of the Inn. Whatever!

The next day we walked around the beach and little town strip. We headed off the Island and spent the day in Seattle, Washington. My boyfriend had read in one of my personal journals that one of my dreams was to see the Experience Music Project Museum (Jimi Hendrix). We saw the museum and it was pretty cool. Lots of hands-on things to do and really trippy exhibits. I was disappointed to find that I had just flown across the United States for the first time in my life to see what was left from the Life of Jimi Hendrix... and most of his display and exhibit had been put in storage for

Memorial Day at Wolf Trap

Usually a weekend where everyone runs off to the beach or the neighborhood pool... but this year Wolf Trap had a FREE concert with the United StatesMarine Corp Band. We brought a frisbee, some grilled kabobs made at home, a bottle of wine and a blanket. It was a great show. My son had tons of fun playing with other little boys. At the end there were fireworks. Wolf Trap is a great performing arts pavilion with lawn seating.

The boys were with their mom that day. Oh Well.

My 28th Birthday

Just chilling at home with my 5yo son. I baked this custard filled vanilla cake with strawberry icing. I gave my son a few gel pens and told him to decorate it for me. It came out great!! It had smiley faces, hearts, stick people and a sunshine.
