WINTER: December 2008 - Febraury 2009

Christmas 2008

So we have a lot to be grateful for although we are going into the Christmas season with very little income. My boyfriend has now been unemployed for almost 4 months, we are behind on rent, cannot buy a nice Christmas dinner or buy nice gifts. We have been especially blessed with all the family and community donated gifts. Although my boyfriend does not enjoy church anymore, he and his two boys joinded us for Christmas Eve midnight service at Mclean Bible Church. It was a great service with great music. Unfortunatly his boys don't know how to act in church. The oldest was so upset about the seating arrangements that he actually cried. I completly ignored what was going on next to me and enjoyed the service while holding my very heavy sleeping 5yo son. We went home and followed my family tradition of opening a small gift before going to bed.

New Years Eve Slumber Party

So much fun! We decided to stay in this year (we were broke anyways) and have a little party with the kids. Last year we had a babysitter and this year the babysitters step-daughter was coming to our house. I had this big idea to just have the kids invite their friends. We ended up having a full house including myself, my boyfriend, 5yo girl, 6yo son, 6yo boy, 8yo boy, 10yo boy, 11yo boy and a 13yo boy. We have a buffet of pizza, snacks, drinks, candy, noise-makers, hats and more. They played the Wii, games and just destroyed our house. At midnight we were all still standing except one. We toasted sparkling cider and the kids ran circles outside with the noise-makers. They gathered every pillow and blanket in the house and camped in the living room, watching my movies from my horror collection. When they finally woke the next afternoon, I had reheated the leftover pizza. They played outside and walked to Lake Anne. I fed them loaded ice cream sundaes and sent them home to their parents, all sugared up. Hahahaha.

New Tattoo: Ivy Strand

So my friend decided that we should get our noses pierced together. I have had my done before but had to take it out for a job. I thought it would be cool to do it again. So when we get there, she chickens out and decided to get a new tattoo instead. She got a small sun and moon on the back of her neck. I am always interested in getting new ink so I did what I always do... validated my approval to spend what I had in my checking account on new ink for myself. While I waited... I got my nose pierced. My son was playing with cars in the waiting room. I had picked out this cute ivy strand off a poster and decided to get it done. Paying full price totally sucks to by the way. The Ivy Strand is on my chest and didn't even hurt. I don't think it's deep enough because the bottom leaf faded after the first week of healing. No biggie. The Artist (Fairfax shop) was really cool and I am going to make an appointment with him when I am ready to get my chest orchids done.
